The Second Diaspora Professional Forum “Share Your Experience with Homeland” dedicated to Georgian Diaspora Day was held in Tbilisi, Georgia on May 27-28, 2016 and was attended by the President of Georgia Mr. Giorgi Margvelashvili, Georgian Prime Minister Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili and several Georgian Ministers and parliament members. The forum introduced the Georgia National Innovation Ecosystem (GENIE) project’s Diaspora components funded by the World Bank. The Georgian Center had an honor to participate in the forum and present an initiative for the legislative changes into the Georgian law to enhance the financial support of Diaspora organizations which could dramatically increase the cultural, economical and political impact for Georgian initiatives abroad. In addition, Georgian Center presented proposal about the mentorship program to support and engage Georgian diaspora.
The initiative of legislative changes for diaspora activity funding aboard is a very important initiative for entire Georgian diaspora society that will give the opportunity to all diaspora organizations to solicit federal funds and support the Georgian mission around the world, but especially in the countries where most of the Georgian immigrants live.
Georgian Center is a 501(c)(3)non-profit and non-governmental organization founded in 2015 by the first generation Georgian immigrants in the United States, namely in Washington, DC greater metropolitan district with the mission to popularize Georgian culture, support education and business innovations among Diaspora and motherland.
